The Native Animal Network of SA Inc. (NAN) is a South Australian based organisation which was founded in 1988 and incorporated in 1993. It is a state wide organisation that provides a Wildlife rescue, care and information service.

The group is made up of a large number of dedicated volunteers who provide a 24hour/7day service for sick, injured or orphaned native animals.

In addition to a call out service, a phone advice service is also available. The co-ordinators can organise help and assistance across South Australia and will organise for any native animal needing to come into care to do so as quickly as possible.

The NAN is a registered charity and relies heavily on donations and fundraising activities to continue to provide its services. The group has a strong educational focus and undertakes many school visits, guest speaking activities and conducts workshops in the care of native animals. The NAN strongly supports its members, and as a consequence, every animal, no matter how common, receives the best possible care. Our volunteers work tirelessly for our local wildlife.

The NAN keeps admin costs down to a bare minimum.

All donations are spent on the needs of the animals coming into care...initial veterinary treatment and support of the member and animal if it must stay in a care situation. NAN returns independently living, healthy, sound animals back to the wild.

NAN is the largest group of active wildlife carers in South Australia... we respond to requests from other groups who do not handle older animals, the police, RSPCA and members of the public... NAN provides a catching team to catch and relocate back to the wild, wild kangaroos that find their way into suburbia... NAN also regularly brings back into care hand reared wildlife that have been illegally released into the Adelaide hills and do not have the survival skills to cope.
